Visit Port Seton, East Lothian in Scotland
Port Seton was a traditional salt making village. Now a small seaside resort with a small harbour with a sand and shingle beach.
The perfect location for families holidaying at Seton Sands Holiday Village. Located just across the road, you won't have to venture far before you are strolling along the vast, sandy beach, dance around the sand dunes and paddling in the sea.
As you make your way towards the harbour, the beach becomes more shingle and rocky, perfect for the budding explore to check out the rockpools.
The beach stretches for approximately two miles showcasing golden sands and rocky areas with shallow rock pools. Take a moment to soak in the view and cast your eyes over the waters, simply breathtaking.
Once a thriving fishing port, indeed it still has a fishing industry today, but on a much smaller scale. Take a stroll down to the harbour in the early hours to watch the fishermen bringing in their "catch of the day".
Environmental improvements made to the coastal walkway and harbours have made Port Seton a popular place for day trippers and holiday makers alike.
At Port Seton, keep your eyes open for the wildlife. Check out the rock pools for the small fish, crabs, sandworms, etc but you are also likely to find jellyfish, basking sharks and turtles. Do be careful though, remember this is their home and they won't survive if you start taking them off the beaches.
A gorgeous footpath that runs alongside the beach offering stunning views. Teeming with wildlife and wildflowers, the scent from the flowers in spring is quite simply intoxicating.
Always worth checking out the Tide Times during your stay. Nothing worse than looking forward to a stroll along the beach, only to find the tide is in. Though, all is not lost, pop along to the harbour with a crabbing net and haul in those crabs.
